Easy install, works great, good price and service.

Purchased to replace dead pentair intellichlor. Significant cost saving. Arrived quickly, it's legitimately a plug and play replacement (but also comes with all the fittings for a new install). Working great so far. Being able to see salt level is a nice upgrade over pentair. Very pleased with the quality and value of this purchase.

Great replacement for Pentair OEM

I purchased this to avoid spending so much for the Pentair unit. It does NOT communicate with the Intellitouch control board, but that is OK for me. It goes in with the flow of the pump and once you dial in the chlorine level you need, you just set it and forget it.

Salt Cell

Easy to install. Works better than the original Pentair. I have to keep output at 10% to not have high chlorine levels. Great product and great price.

Great price and reviews

I replaced my old IC-40 cell from Pentair that was at the end of its life. The new Apex unit has increased my chlorine concentration significantly after the first two days. It also allows for a lower pump speed to generate chlorine which saves on electricity costs. Very pleased so far.

Not compatible with mobile functions.

I replaced my Pentair IC40 salt cell with this after market unit. It fit right in and was up and running within 30 minutes. It is cheaper than the Pentair unit but it is not compatible with the mobile app for Pentair. You will no longer see your salt level, output %, or other functions. Can still switch from pool to spa mode and turn on blowers and bubblers if you have a spa. Didn't know it dropped features and monitoring functions on the app prior to purchase. The unit seems to function well, but would have replaced with the Pentair unit to retain full remote functionality if I had known about the mobile app incompatibility. Response: Dan, the description mentions that it doesn't hook up to the remote connection. This is not necessary for operation and salt cells typically only need seasonal adjustment or maintenance.

Q: Will this cell work both the normal power center for the Pentair Intellichlor and can it also get powered from control board like Intellitouch or Easytouch? Can it also get connected to Intellitouch rs-485 communication wires?

A: The APEX P40 can be powered from an Intellichlor Power Center.
Regarding the Intellitouch or Easytouch, the cell still connects to a Pentair Power Center and the Intellitouch or Easytouch will merely control the Power Center.
The APEX P40 has no provision for connecting to or communicating via RS-485 data lines.

Q: What is the lifespan of the Apex P40? (For comparison, the Pentair IC40 lifespan is specified to be 10,000 hours or about 5 years of normal use).

A: A cell's lifespan is ultimately unique to the pool it is used on, based on the size of the pool, how long the equipment runs every day, the season length, how its water chemistry is maintained, the usage of swimmers, its environment, and more. If sized and used properly, a cell can last years longer than its warranty period.
